Black belt holder, three-time world champion in contact karate-Kyokushin Khaid Mantaev arrived in Sakhalin as part of the federal project “Kyokushin to School”. The eminent athlete and Sakhalin coaches held a joint master class for the guys to share their experience and work out a program for future training. This was reported in the press service of the regional government.
In June, the world champion already came to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and presented Kyokushin to School. Now the project has been successfully launched in ten educational institutions. The South Sakhalin Secondary School No. 3 named after Hero of Russia Sergei Romashin, Secondary School No. 4, Secondary School No. 14 and Secondary School No. 6, as well as the schools of Korsakov, Troitsky, Krasnogorsk and Chaplanovo became pilot educational institutions. Schoolchildren got the opportunity to study martial arts for free.
“Classes are held as part of additional lessons and are not mandatory. Each child will be able to decide for himself whether it is interesting to him or not.»– said Khaid Mantaev.
In the future, the project will spread to other educational institutions in the region. For this, work is underway to find qualified trainers, as well as to compile a list of schools where they can be employed.
It should be noted that the pilot project has been successfully implemented in the Magadan region since 2021. Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev highly appreciated this program and suggested extending the initiative to other regions of the Far East.
In addition, the federal project “Sambo to School” is being implemented in the Sakhalin Region, which has been successfully operating in more than 70 regions of the country. Martial arts, which appeared in the Soviet Union and became an international sport, is taught within the third— variable — physical education lesson.
