On Wednesday, March 22, Ivan Kolesnik, the regional deputy minister of sports, introduced the Om volleyball team to its new coaching staff. This includes head coach Viktor Ushakov, who previously coached Omsk, and his assistant Natalia Vasilchenko.

In the volleyball “Omi” Viktor Ushakov, who previously worked in “Omichka” as well, will soon be appointed as the new head coach – already on March 22, the team’s press service announced this.

Ivan Kolesnik, Deputy Head of the Regional Ministry of Sports, introduced Ushakov and head coach Natalya Vasilchenko to the players at the V. Larionov sports and recreation center.

The former “helmsman” – Anna Pligunova will remain in the system and will be the main one in “Omi-2”.

“First of all, I want to thank Anna Nikolaevna Pligunova for the time she gave to the team. A lot has been done under her leadership, but today the team faces more ambitious tasks. noted Ivan Kolesnik. The head of the region is interested in the development of Omsk volleyball and, of course, if the team wins the right to enter the Super League, then I am sure that both the main sponsor of the club and the leadership of the region will support Om. Now we are appointing coaches who are known to volleyball fans. Viktor Sergeevich Ushakov had experience in leading our team, at that time it was Omichka, to the Super League, he also has serious experience working with Super League and Major League A clubs, so we approved his candidacy,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

Viktor Ushakov is a graduate of SibGUFK and worked for many years at the Spartak VC under Vladimir Shumakov. In the 2010/11 season, he also worked as a head coach. Also – in the clubs “Sakhalin” and “Primorye”.

For the time being, Natalia Vasilchenko will act as the head coach, she will then become the head coach.

“Viktor Sergeevich and I are a well-coordinated couple, he trained me, and after that we worked together both in Omichka and on Sakhalin. There is mutual understanding between us, developed over the years, so I hope we will be able to adequately fulfill the tasks that are set before us. The main philosophy of Viktor Sergeyevich, which I will also adhere to while acting as head coach, is strict adherence to game discipline. I think we will add creativity to the game. I will be more responsible for the work of both connecting players and the psychological stability of the team,” Natalya explained.

Sergey Kufrin will become Omi’s general manager, with the responsibility of selecting players. This is a graduate of the Omsk volleyball school, he was previously a professional player, and after the end of his playing career he worked as a general manager of VC Omichka and then an adviser to the general director of VC Altai.

“Omi” is now left to play the 10th round of the championship of Russia. It will be held in Kaliningrad from 6 to 9 April. Based on its results, the final position of the team in the table will be clear. Now Om is 7th, but it is 1-4 points behind its competitors. And if he can become 6th, then he will play in the final two final rounds in April-May. There, the teams will determine the champion and prize-winners of the league.
