The justice of the peace of the Tagansky district of Moscow fined the Wikimedia Foundation for 2 million rubles. for not deleting two Wikipedia articles about the military operation in Ukraine, which the authorities considered fake. This was reported “RIA News” with reference to the court.

The Wikimedia Foundation was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 13.4.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of the procedure for restricting access to information).

At the trial, a representative of Roskomnadzor said that he sent the fund a request to remove two articles about the military operation in Ukraine. According to him, the organization did not respond to them. A spokesperson for Wikimedia said the company was not properly informed and asked to stop production or be released from administrative liability.

This is the 13th fine that Wikimedia received in 2023 for not deleting content. The total amount of all fines exceeds 20 million rubles. The last time Wikimedia was fined on this article on 3 August. Then the fine amounted to 3 million rubles.
