The state of health of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov remains stably grave, but without deterioration. This was announced by the wife of the figure skater Oksana Domnina.
On Tuesday, Kostomarov was admitted to intensive care with pneumonia. Then he was transferred to Kommunarka. It was reported that he was undergoing the procedure of artificial blood saturation with oxygen ECMO. This procedure, as a rule, is used in emergency cases to maintain the patient’s life. On New Year’s holidays, Kostomarov, now 45, performed in the ice show “The Wizard of Oz” when frosts in the Moscow region reached minus 25.
“He is in serious condition,” Domnina said. “So far, there are no improvements.” She stressed that “there are no worsenings, as they say.”
Roman Kostomarov won the 2006 Olympic gold in tandem with Tatyana Navka. They have two victories at the World Championships and three at the European Championships.
