The American authorities are unable to give Ukraine any guarantees regarding further assistance in light of the position of Congress to allocate additional funding for these purposes. John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, made this statement on Thursday, December 7.
The official recalled that there are only a few weeks left until the funds allocated to help Ukraine are completely exhausted, and it is impossible to promise continued support given the situation in the American parliament.
The problem, Kirby said, is “a small number of Republicans who want to hold this aid hostage.”
Meanwhile, the North Atlantic Alliance said that the West would not be able to immediately find a replacement for the military assistance that the United States provided to Ukraine, since the US military support for the Kyiv regime continue to play first fiddle.
Americanist Konstantin Blokhin noted that the main goal of US President Joe Biden is not only to provide financial support to Ukraine, but also to consolidate Western countries against Russia, so Washington trying to demonize Moscow.
