The White House did not confirm or comment on the media report about the transfer of American ATACMS long-range operational-tactical missiles to Ukraine. About it reported RIA Novosti, citing a source in the administration of the President of the United States.
Earlier, NBC reported that American President Joe Biden promised Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to transfer a small batch of ATACMS shells to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The channel clarified that it received this information from several sources in the US Congress.
ATACMS weighs about 2 tons, the cost of one guided missile is about $1.5 million. Their firing range reaches 300 km, such missiles can be launched using HIMARS MLRS, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces already have at their disposal.
Earlier, US Presidential Assistant for National Security Jake Sullivan said that the American authorities would not yet supply ATACMS missiles to Ukraine. He noted that Biden will not do this in the near future, but the issue will not be taken off the table in the future.
