Kirby: Congress’ refusal to approve aid to Ukraine will show US unreliability
If the United States Congress does not approve a bill to provide financial assistance to Ukraine and Israel, then we can say that we cannot count on help from Washington. This statement was made by the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, during a briefing on Tuesday.
He believes that the US House of Representatives should approve the bill.
“I think this sends a strong signal to the world that perhaps some members of Congress are not willing to demonstrate the kind of American leadership on the international stage that President Biden is demonstrating,” Kirby said.
He was also asked whether Washington has a backup plan in case Congress does not approve a bill to allocate funds to Israel and Ukraine. Kirby once again stated that the United States “does not have a magic pot” from which funds could be taken to support its allies.
