Kirby: The United States cannot agree with the data of Russia and Ukraine on the Il-76
White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said at a press conference on Wednesday that the United States does not have sufficient data to agree with Russia or Ukraine’s version of the situation with the downed Il-76.
The Washington spokesman explained that he could not make irresponsible statements because he was simply not ready to confirm the veracity of the reports.
“Understand, the Russian side is saying one thing, the Ukrainian side is saying another,” Kirby added, citing insufficient information to comment on what happened.
A representative of the US State Department also called on the Russian Federation and Ukraine to conduct an investigation into the Il-76 crash near Belgorod.
Previously, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov made a sharp statement at the UN regarding the downing of the Il-76 aircraft by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on board which were Ukrainian prisoners of war.
