The water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan by 20:00 local time (18:00 Moscow time) increased to 704 cm. In the last 12 hours alone, the water rose by 73 cm, reported Government of the Kurgan region. The unfavorable level is 700 cm.

According to Kurgan authorities, in the area of ​​the settlements of Ketovo, Sanatornaya and Menshchikovo, the water in Tobol rose by 10 cm in two hours. Near the village of Temlyakova, the water level increased by 5 cm, in the village of Kryukovo – by 17 cm, and in the village of Lapteva – by 12 cm.

Governor of the Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov warned that when the water level in Tobol reaches 6 m, flooding of the right bank of the river and the low part of the left bank will begin. More than 18 thousand people may be in the flood zone. By data Ministry of Emergency Situations as of April 15, 309 residential buildings and 571 household plots were flooded in the Kurgan region. 12,782 people have already been evacuated from settlements at risk.
