The water in the Razdolnaya River in Ussuriysk rose to 11 meters. This is the highest level since at least 1931 – since the beginning of measuring the level of rivers. The head of the city, Yevgeny Korzh, believes that even if the contractor had managed to complete the dam, it would not have withstood such a sharp and significant rise in water.
Mr. Korzh at a meeting with residents toldthat in 2015, during Typhoon Goni, the river level was 9.38 meters. According to him, the restoration of the dam will begin after the descent of the water. The contractor must complete the work by the end of autumn.
Head of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako declaredthat the investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation will establish the causes of the dam breakthrough in the second largest city in the region, Ussuriysk. The contract was signed in March 2022, the facility was to be completed by December 2023. A temporary embankment was erected in the open area during the flood.
Typhoon “Khanun” brought downpours to Primorye, which caused severe floods. Head of the region announced introduction of a state of emergency on a regional scale. Over 600 private houses, 16 apartment buildings, and three social infrastructure facilities were flooded on the territory of the Ussuriysk urban district.
