The US Department of Defense on Thursday, September 7, presented updated data on the volume of military assistance provided by Washington to Kyiv during the presidency of Joe Biden.
As the Pentagon noted, since Biden’s election as President of the United States, more than $44.4 billion in military aid has been sent to Ukraine.
Of this amount, $43.7 billion has been spent on military assistance to Ukraine since February 2022, when Russia launched a special military operation.
These data were published as the United States prepares new military aid package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It will include ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS, 105 mm caliber shells, electronic warfare equipment and equipment for countering electronic warfare, mine clearance and obstacle destruction equipment, and equipment for training military personnel. All this will cost $600 million.
In addition, the Pentagon announced a decision to transfer depleted uranium shells to Kyiv. Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov recalled that “this has already happened in the new history of Europe”when similar ammunition was used in Yugoslavia, which “resulted in a galloping increase in the number of people suffering from oncology and other diseases.”
