The volume of parallel imports to Russia amounted to $12.6 billion after its legalization, the Federal Customs Service reported. Ministry of Economy September 19 evaluated it is worth $9 billion. According to the FCS, the monthly increase is 12%.
The main volume of parallel imports falls on electronics, appliances, goods for everyday use, clothes and perfumes. “Volume is growing at about 12% per month. To date, 1.6 million tons of various goods worth $12.6 billion have been imported,” First Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov told RIA Novosti.
Delivery mainly goes through the Far East and the southern border, but there are also deliveries from the western border, since “it is not yet tightly closed.” From the West, they mainly bring medicines, food, and everyday goods. “Now about 600 trucks pass here a day, before it was 3,000. By the end of the year, the share of the European Union in the total foreign trade turnover of Russia, I think, will decrease even more and amount to about 30%,” Mr. Davydov added.
At the same time, the FCS continues to detect counterfeit products. For nine months, 7 million units of counterfeit products were detected. No significant growth is recorded (8 million units were detected in 2020, 6.5 million in 2021).
In the spring, the government allowed parallel imports of goods into the country for certain types of products. Importation of such goods can be carried out without obtaining permission from the copyright holder, manufacturer or dealer.
