Now in the region about 50% of Vologda residents choose a sports lifestyle
Slowly but surely, sport is becoming the norm of life for many Vologda residents. This is an area that receives special attention, because, as you know, a healthy mind in a healthy body. President Vladimir Putin instructed to involve 70% of Russians in systematic sports activities by 2030, and the Vologda region is confidently moving towards this goal.
Now in the region, about 50% of citizens choose sports. To attract even more Vologda residents to an active lifestyle, the region is undergoing a large-scale modernization of infrastructure. After all, for training, desire alone may not be enough; you also need opportunities.
“The head of state noted the great role of sport in the development of the country and supported the idea of declaring 2024 the Year of Sports. The President has set the task of increasing the proportion of citizens systematically involved in physical education and sports to 60% by 2025, and to 70% by 2030. In our region, a lot has already been done to implement these plans,” said Sergei Fokichev, head of the regional department of physical culture and sports.
Today, about three thousand sports infrastructure facilities operate in the Vologda region, and more than 80 sports are being developed. Over the past five years, city planning councils have decided to build and reconstruct 47 sports facilities, 54 facilities have been overhauled.
According to the regional program “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”, the commissioning of new facilities also continues. Thus, this year the VologdaArena ice palace was built in the regional capital, the Vityaz stadium was opened after a large-scale reconstruction, the construction of the Golden Puck sports and recreation center and FOCOT on Poet Romanov Street continues, and it is planned to create a modular sports hall.
A whole sports core is being formed on Poet Romanov Street in Vologda. VologdaArena opened here in February. The Golden Puck is being built within walking distance. This facility was 80% ready at the end of October. The buildings are connected to each other by a warm passage for the convenience of athletes. In addition to popular sports such as hockey and figure skating, rock climbing and curling classes will be held here.
“Next to the ice arenas, the construction of a modern open-type sports and recreation complex is being completed. The construction of sports facilities is on schedule, so by 2024 the region will receive a modern sports cluster on Poet Alexander Romanov Street. It will unite thousands of athletes and lovers of an active lifestyle,” emphasized First Deputy Governor of the region Eduard Zainak.
In all municipal districts, repairs and reconstruction of sports facilities, organization of trails and health ski tracks are being carried out. Thanks to the “Sport is the Norm of Life” program, 26 sites of the All-Russian physical culture and sports complex “Ready for Labor and Defense” operate in the region. Compared to 2015, the number of Vologda residents passing the GTO standards increased by 3.8 times.
The “Healthy Lifestyle” project has opened new opportunities for residents of the Vologda region. The People’s Trainer”, launched in 2021. Vologda residents appreciated the program, because it allows them to play sports under the supervision of professional mentors. The training is free.
Due to its popularity, the project is rapidly developing. So, every year the number of mentors increases. This season, for example, about 200 national trainers conducted classes in all districts and districts of the region. More than seven thousand Vologda residents attended the training. Local residents went in for jogging, Nordic walking, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, paid attention to general physical fitness, did breathing exercises and much more.
A competition is held for national trainers for the best organization of work on the project. This season, the activities of nine mentors were presented to the commission. The trainers of the Totemsky, Sokolsky and Chagodoshchensky districts were declared the best. The winners will receive cash prizes, a cup and certificates.
Work on the development of sports in the Vologda region will continue. Plans for 2024 include construction, reconstruction and overhaul of facilities. And not only in large cities, but also in regions. The sites will be equipped with the necessary supplies and equipment.
Thus, in Verkhovazhye it is planned to put the Teplorucheysky sports and recreation center in order. The Ustyuzhna sports and recreation complex is also awaiting renovation. In Kharovsk, reconstruction of the Sever stadium is expected. In the village of Varnitsy, Totemsky District, the sports and recreation center will also be overhauled, and the roof and heating system will be restored at the Leader Sports and Fitness Center in the Mezhdurechensky District.
In addition to construction work, residents will enjoy all kinds of competitions, festivals, competitions, races, new training sessions with folk trainers and much more. Everything so that Vologda residents have the opportunity to prove that the Vologda region chooses an active lifestyle.
