33 deputies out of 34 present voted for Mr. Boldakin: according to the charter, in order to win, he needed to gain more than half of the votes from the payroll of the City Duma, that is, more than 20 votes. One vote was cast for the second candidate, the leader of the LDPR faction in the regional legislative assembly, Dmitry Grachev.
In addition to the two finalists, four more applicants applied for the competition for the post of head of Ulyanovsk: the ex-director of the OGKU “Ulyanovsk Region Administration” Igor Efremov, a member of the regional branch of the Just Russia – For Truth party, the former general director of the Sengileyevsky cement and Novoulyanovsk slate plants Alexei Sorokvashin , Deputy of the Legislative Assembly from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Alexander Spitsyn and the head of the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Ulyanovsk Alexei Onishchenko.
“With the help of a team and systematic approach, I plan to solve the key problems of the development of the road network, public transport, housing and communal services, the construction of schools and kindergartens, the resettlement of dilapidated housing, landscaping, business support and many others,”— commented his election Alexander Boldakin in the Telegram channel.
The new head of Ulyanovsk graduated from the Military Engineering and Technical University in St. Petersburg with a degree in construction and operation of buildings and structures. After that, he served in the Office of the Chief of Works of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and was responsible for the construction of housing for military pilots and employees of the Gagarin Air Force Academy. Since 2002, Mr. Boldakin has held senior positions in manufacturing and construction organizations, and was also responsible for the implementation of infrastructure projects (construction of schools, kindergartens, healthcare facilities, heat supply and complex construction).
In 2008, Alexander Boldakin moved to the municipal service and took the post of Deputy Head of the Taldomsky District of the Moscow Region for Construction, Transport and Communications, then replaced the Head of the Territory Development Department of the administration of Shchelkovo near Moscow. In March 2022, Mr. Boldakin moved to the Ulyanovsk region at the invitation of the governor Alexei Russkikh and took up the post of deputy head of Ulyanovsk for the development of urban infrastructure.
