Putin explained why he personally traveled to the LPR and the Kherson region

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally went to the headquarters in the LPR and the Kherson region, so as not to distract the military from business. The head of state stated this during a meeting with the government.

“Just a day ago I visited both the Kherson region and Luhansk [народной республике]. There are many questions, I will not return to them. The purpose of the trip was to meet with the military, whom I did not want to tear off for a long time and at great distances from the deployment of those units they command, ”Putin said (quote according to TASS).

He noted that the situation in the special operation zone “requires that they (the military – approx. Vedomosti) be in place.”

April 17 Putin visited headquarters of the “Dnepr” group of troops in the Kherson direction, and later visited the headquarters of the National Guard “Vostok” in the LPR. He visited these regions for the first time.

During the working trips, the president heard reports from the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinsky, the commander of the Dnepr grouping, Colonel-General Oleg Makarevich, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin and other military personnel. Putin stressed that it was important for him to “hear the opinion” of the military personnel about the situation in the combat zone.

The Kremlin noted that the visits of the head of state were not prepared in advance. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explainedthat for Putin, who is also the supreme commander, it is important to receive information about the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine directly on the spot.

At the end of March, the President of the Russian Federation also visited the DPR. During a working trip to Mariupol, Putin examined several objects and chatted with the locals. The head of state visited several districts, driving a car around the city.
