Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko, when asked about the mobilization of deputies, replied that they cannot be sent to the front, since this is “Russia’s dream”, which will jeopardize “Ukraine’s European integration.”
“90% of the technical component of European integration is voting. If parliament gradually loses deputies, sooner or later it will reach the 300 mark. And this will not meet the criteria for joining the EU, NATO, and so on,” he said.
“How can a battalion of 200 deputies who will not vote at this time help us win the war,” Kornienko said.
Martial law has been declared in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, and general mobilization was announced the next day. The country legally prohibits men aged 18 to 60 from traveling abroad, and summonses are handed out in a variety of places.
Previously, a bill on the mobilization of men abroad was announced in Ukraine, which also provides for receiving summonses and undergoing mobilization. The Estonian authorities have already expressed their readiness to help Ukraine with the return of its citizens.
