The US has reached its national debt ceiling, so the Treasury is introducing extraordinary measures. This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a letter to the US Congress.
Between January 19 and June 5, 2023, the US Treasury will suspend contributions to two social funds that serve state employees – the Civil Service Fund for Pensions and Disabilities, and the Postal Service Retiree Medical Benefits Fund.
However, pensioners should not have problems with receiving payments: as soon as Congress approves an increase in the public debt ceiling, the Treasury will pay the lost investments to beneficiaries.
