The public will continue to see the United States helping Ukraine. This statement was made on Monday, September 18, by John Kirby, coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council.
The official recalled that Washington almost regularly announces the allocation of new packages of military assistance to Kyiv – “we announce these packages almost every couple of weeks.”
Additional packages will follow, Kirby said, but did not go into details about their timing or content.
Earlier it was reported that American senators are going to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky due to threats from some Republicans in the lower house of the US Congress block another aid package for Kyiv. At the same time, on September 21, Zelensky is scheduled to hold negotiations with his American counterpart Joe Biden.
Another major Western donor to Ukraine, Germany, has acknowledged a lack of public support for the idea of helping Kyiv. German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock confirmed that many do not realize the need to support Ukraineand “this is true not only in the States, but also here, in Germany.”
