The US may completely cut off Huawei from US technology

The U.S. Department of Commerce has warned U.S. companies that it will no longer issue licenses they previously needed to obtain to sell Huawei technology, Reuters and Bloomberg reported Jan. 31. In recent years, Intel and Qualcomm continued to cooperate with the Chinese company, which in 2020 received a license to sell processors for 4G smartphones to Huawei. According to a Reuters source, the US authorities have now taken a new course, which includes a ban on the supply of Huawei products of 4G cellular standards, WiFi 6 and 7, artificial intelligence technologies, high-performance computing and cloud technologies. However, according to a Bloomberg source, the final decision has not yet been made.
Officially, the ban may be approved in May 2023, on the fourth anniversary of Huawei being blacklisted by the US Department of Commerce due to “national security threats” and accusations of a number of crimes: industrial espionage, technology theft and bank fraud. This closed the company’s access to 5G technologies, but left the opportunity to purchase less advanced software and hardware with the permission of the department.
