The US is concerned about the possible claims of China on the territory of the Moon

A space race between the US and China could lead to Beijing gaining a foothold in the most resource-rich areas on the Moon’s surface. China may keep the Americans out, says National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) administrator Bill Nelson.
“We need to be more careful that Chinese representatives don’t get to a place on the Moon under the guise of scientific research,” Nelson expressed concern in an interview with Politico. “It’s quite possible that they will then say: “Stay away, this is our territory.”
The competition for the exploration of the moon between the United States and China, according to a NASA official, is becoming increasingly intense. According to Nelson, the next two years could determine who wins.
Politico writes: China’s space program is becoming “bigger and more aggressive.” As noted, Beijing announced the goal of landing astronauts on the moon by the end of this decade.
Meanwhile, NASA’s moon landing schedule is already a year behind that of the Trump administration.
