The US expects the continuation of normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia

Washington expects the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia to continue, despite the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, a senior US administration official said. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.

“I am absolutely confident that terrorist groups like Hamas will not be able to provoke such an outcome,” he said, referring to the disruption of the normalization process.

On the morning of October 7, a massive rocket attack began on populated areas of Israel from the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli military estimates, the number of rockets fired exceeded 3 thousand. In addition, dozens of Hamas militants entered the country. Hamas itself announced Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the people of Israel, announced that the state was in a state of war.

Mobilization was announced, the Israeli military was clearing out populated areas, but they were unable to completely regain control over the populated areas captured by Hamas. Moscow called on Israel and Palestine to cease fire and return to the negotiating table.

Former Israeli Deputy National Security Adviser Chuck Freilich said Hamas’s attack on Israel was successful because of the disarray in the Israeli army and intelligence services. The number of Israelis killed as a result of the Hamas attack on Israel has reportedly exceeded 300 people, and more than 1.5 thousand people were injured.
