US Ambassador to Moscow Lynn Tracy visited Wall Street Journal correspondent Evan Gershkovich, who is accused of espionage, in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. The US Embassy said in a statement about the diplomat’s visit.
“Evan is in good health and remains in good spirits,” Tracy noted following the visit.
The court’s press service previously reported that the journalist will remain in custody until March 30, 2024.

He was detained at the end of March in Yekaterinburg, and a criminal case was opened against Gershkovich under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (espionage).
