The Urals won both relay races at the Russian Biathlon Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk

The mixed single was won by a team from the Sverdlovsk region! Representatives of this region also took gold in the mixed relay. This was reported by the press service of “UgraMegaSport”. The event was supported by Deputy Governor of Ugra Elena Shumakova.

The single mixed relay began with a minute of silence. This year, Anfisa Reztsova, a Soviet and Russian biathlete and skier, two-time Olympic champion in biathlon, Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, died. And also this year, four-time world champion, two-time Olympic champion in biathlon Viktor Mamatov died. Immediately after a minute of silence, the athletes started.

Biathletes Tamara Derbusheva and Kirill Bazhin were the first to reach the finish line thanks to accurate shooting and excellent speed; they completed it in 40 minutes 45 seconds. The silver medalists from the Perm region were 1 minute 12 seconds behind the winners. The top three was completed by the Moscow region.

On November 26, the mixed relay started, each team had not two, but four athletes. Women ran 6 km, men – 7.5 km. A total of 22 teams took to the start line! Four teams from Ugra took part in the race.

So, the Sverdlovsk Region 1 team took first place in the mixed relay! They earned the victory together, the four of them: Tamara Derbusheva, Irina Kazakevich, Vasily Tomshin and Kirill Bazhin.

As for the representatives of Ugra, Goreev, Reztsov and Kaplin took the lead in the middle of the race. The Ugra team took first place after the second shooting. True, not without additional ammunition.

– The fans are great today! Such support on the track and at the shooting range is very inspiring and helpful. Of course, I wanted to please them and my team so that there would be a good lead. This way, the guys will be able to work at their own pace,” noted Elizaveta Kaplina.

Dmitry Ivanov said after the finish that he wanted to create a gap in the shooting, but it didn’t work out for him. The third stage turned out to be strong in terms of competitors, the Ugra biathlete noted. Unfortunately, Petr Pashchenko made mistakes in the last shooting and gave biathletes from other teams a head start. Ugra came fourth, losing just over a minute to the bronze medalists.
