The United States will allocate a new package of military assistance to Ukraine for $ 350 million

Washington will allocate another $350 million military aid package to Kyiv, informed Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

“In accordance with the authority delegated by President Joe Biden, I am authorizing the 34th, from August 2021, of a $350 million allocation of U.S. weapons and equipment to Ukraine,” the statement said.

The aid package once again includes missiles for US HIMARS MLRS and howitzers, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, HARM anti-radar missiles, as well as river boats and anti-tank weapons.

Early March Washington announced on the allocation of a new package of military assistance to Kiev for $ 400 million. Then Blinken said that it would include additional ammunition for the American HIMARS MLRS and 155-mm howitzers, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, sapper equipment, as well as funds for the maintenance of already delivered equipment and training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the end of February, the Pentagon announced on the allocation of a new $2 billion military assistance package to Ukraine. This assistance package will be allocated through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This means that the United States does not supply these weapons from its warehouses, but purchases them from manufacturers. As CNN noted earlier, deliveries in this case will take significantly longer.

The military operation in Ukraine has been going on since February 24, 2022. After it began, the EU countries, the USA, Great Britain, and others imposed new sanctions on the industry and economy of Russia. In particular, they began to provide military assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine. The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of weapons to Kyiv. They also noted that Western countries thus become a party to the conflict.

On February 18, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russia’s victory in the Ukrainian conflict will “extremely dangerous” for NATO, so it is necessary to continue to support Ukraine. The secretary general also believes that the countries of the alliance should prepare for confrontation with Russia: modernize their own armies, strengthen relations between European countries and the United States, and generally strengthen the “resilience” of Western society.
