Balitsky: in the Zaporozhye region, almost a third of the population issued Russian passports

Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky said on Monday that almost a third of the region’s residents have received Russian passports.

“In total, 188,964 applications have been accepted since May 2022,” Balitsky wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the procedure for obtaining citizenship takes no more than 15 days.

“More than 30% of the inhabitants of the Zaporozhye region have already received passports – 164,577 people,” he said.

In the region, according to its head, there are 16 stationary departments and 2 mobile departments for receiving and issuing documents. In the coming days, it is planned to open 2 more stationary divisions in the cities of Molochansk and Vasilyevka.

In addition, according to Balitsky, “it is planned to create six mobile mobile groups for documenting citizens in areas remote and close to the line of contact,” and “the issue of opening departments in the villages of Konstantinovka and Velikaya Belozerka is being worked out.”

Russian citizenship is granted to residents of Ukraine according to a simplified scheme – such a decree was issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are exempt from duty.

In Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the issuance of Russian passports began on June 11. At an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, held on Monday, the head of state raised the issue of speeding up the issuance of passports to residents of new regions of Russia.
