The United States sent a “message” to our counterintelligence: look for traitors

The Russian intelligence services, as well as military counterintelligence, have probably already started looking for potential traitors who could “leak” valuable military information to the United States. Major General of the FSB in the reserve, Alexander Mikhailov, spoke about this conversation with MK. According to him, among the “moles” may well be both current employees and their relatives.

Recall that in recent days, numerous Pentagon documents have appeared on the Web that were classified. The nature of some of the materials suggests that they could have been obtained by US intelligence from its agents in our power structures.

Of course, there are questions about the reliability of some materials. A number of experts believe that they appeared for only one purpose – to mislead the Russian command before the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, it would be wrong to completely ignore the information that appeared on the Web.

Thus, according to some documents, the Pentagon in a number of cases received information almost in real time about strikes planned by the Russian army against the enemy. The Americans transmitted the information received to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Some experts note that our counterintelligence agencies have already read between the lines of the information they need and have already begun to work to identify “moles” who, using their official position, could simultaneously work for the United States.

The same opinion is shared by Major General of the FSB in the reserve Alexander Mikhailov.

– The very fact of the disclosure of secret Pentagon documents is a positive moment. He will help to calculate the “moles,” the general said. – All special services work “from the enemy”. In other words, we very often receive information about our “moles” just from abroad.

In this case, this information is practically legalized – it is voiced, has some hints and indications, and this is important for counterintelligence and analytical work in order to identify traitors …

Some of us tend to consider this leak of information as a kind of fake. But in this large amount of information there may be a barely noticeable hint, which is allowed on purpose so that someone, if they have enough brains, would pay attention to it. In this situation, the voiced topic requires a very serious check. Moreover, I do not rule out that such a check is already underway through the special services and military counterintelligence.

According to Mikhailov, there have always been traitors working for the enemy for money or out of stupidity.

– We have repeatedly faced frank betrayal in the first Chechen campaign. I remember one incident very well. We sent a secret analytical note to the presidential administration, which described the situation in the North Caucasus region. A few hours later, Dudayev (President of Ichkeria Dzhokhar Dudayev. – “MK”) called the director of the FSB and said: “Are you writing all sorts of nonsense there?”

Therefore, if betrayal is not the norm, then it is certainly a sign of our time – there are a lot of talkers, and a lot of those who are trying to sell information for money.

According to Mikhailov, the enemy can use not only persons admitted to classified information, but also their close relatives, children, friends – everyone who has access to this person.

– The people who surround the bearer of secrets are also a certain danger. Because, on the one hand, they start spinning “information canned food” for the future with different goals. On the other hand, these people are able to sell these “canned food” little by little. This is also a very important point… Therefore, there is no need to be indignant when it is forbidden to use telephones in the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, the FSB, etc. This is the norm. A person who has come to serve must understand that he has fallen into certain restrictions.

The expert also noted that the enemy may try to recruit close relatives of the information carrier, including using compromising evidence:

– The enemy can use anything. From our everyday life has gone such a thing as recruitment on an ideological and political basis. Today, politically engaged characters who fight “for capitalism all over the world” are no longer there, just like those who used to fight for socialism. Now they are recruiting either on compromising information or on a material basis. Ideology has given way to money, – the expert explained.

In general, according to him, the declassified information did not become any super-important revelation for the special services.

– We are primarily interested in information about what will happen tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, in a year – that is, all strategic plans, intentions, some views on the development of the situation. And the information about what has already happened is treated very calmly in the special services. Although, of course, this provides interesting food for analytical investigations. It is important for us to try to analyze everything that has been published and find the very strings that can be pulled to unwind the tangle of traitors in our law enforcement agencies, if there really were any.
