According to Medinsky, earlier, when he was the Minister of Culture, he advocated that the Russian textbook end in 1999, when elections were held in the country and Vladimir Putin became president, “because further is already part of social science, political information, as they said in Soviet years.
However, this idea was not supported in the scientific community: “Scientists said that from the point of view of science, it is more correct to go until yesterday, because everything that happened today and ended is already part of the historical space. Therefore, let it be in the “Recent History” section. Therefore, of course, there will be a SVO, and everything that manages to get into the textbook will be in it, ”said Medinsky.
According to him, as a result, he realized that he was wrong then, because now history is being used for political purposes. Medinsky noted that a “fantasy parallel reality” is now being formed in Ukraine, which allows reprogramming. “We are not talking about the falsification of history – this is a passed stage in the global humanitarian process, we are talking about historical reprogramming, that is, the facts are not distorted, but new ones are laid in the head, in general, completely,” Medinsky added.
On January 30, Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov announced that a new history textbook with a section on a special military operation could appear in Russian schools from September 1, 2023. He specified that a textbook for high school students would be ready in March.
April 10 Kravtsov toldthat the general history and the history of Russia in the new textbook are planned to be combined into one course, where Russia will be at the center of history. “We are moving towards uniting the general history and the history of Russia into a single course. History in it does not divide, but unites,” he concluded.
A working group headed by Medinsky is responsible for the creation of a new history textbook, Kravtsov reported in December 2022. Then the minister admitted that it would take about a year to write. The press service of the Ministry of Education noted that a team of historians, sociologists and psychologists is working on the textbook.
