The United States imposed sanctions against seven Russians and a Kaluga ceramics workshop

The United States imposed sanctions against seven Russian citizens and one legal entity. About it reported on the website of OFAC, the department of the US Treasury responsible for sanctions enforcement.

The family workshop Perko Julleuchter (Yule lamps) has been added to the SDN list. According to the company’s social networks, the owner is Alexei Losev. It also came under US sanctions.

Svetlana Boyko, Vasily Gromovikov, Yuri Makolov, Konstantin Sapozhnikov from St. Petersburg, Gleb Khloponin from the Moscow Region, Anna Travnikova from Kaluga were added to the sanctions list.

In April, the US Treasury turned on SDN list of more than 30 individuals and dozens of organizations from Russia and other countries. Under the blocking sanctions, in particular, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, the former Minister of Transport and the head of the State Transport Leasing Company Yevgeny Dietrich and 16 ships associated with STLCco-owners of the USM holding founded by Alisher Usmanov Vladimir and Varvara Skoch and others. Sanctions have also been imposed against Rosatom’s subsidiary Rusatom Overseas and its president Yevgeny Pakermanov, Novelko LLC, Kovrov Mechanical Plant.

The US Treasury recalled that in October 2022, for the same reasons, sanctions were imposed against Yuri Gudilin, Olga Grak and Leonid Gonin “for their coordinated efforts in 2020 and 2021 to influence the outcome of elections in Moldova.” The ministry added that the US will continue to support the people of Moldova in “their struggle against activities that undermine democracy.”

In early February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a speech at the European Council, said that intelligence had intercepted the “Russian plan” to “destroy the democratic order” in Moldova and he handed over these documents to the Moldovan leader Maia Sandu. On February 13, Sandu said that the country’s departments had confirmed the information provided by Ukraine about Russia’s plans to destabilize the situation in the country.

The Kremlin then replied that they knew nothing about such a plan. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation named these statements are unsubstantiated, saying that Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of Moldova and other countries of the world and does not pose a threat to Chisinau.

Relations between Moscow and Chisinau have been deteriorating lately. On April 27, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that a rather “long list” of high-ranking Russian leaders, including President Vladimir Putin, was banned from entering the country. According to Vedomosti experts, the Moldovan authorities continue to move away from the CIS.
