The United States imposed sanctions against Pamfilova and some members of the Russian Central Election Commission

The US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions against a number of legal entities and 40 individuals from Russia, in particular, against the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova, should from the department’s statement.

The statement says that the sanctions are related to the holding in September of a referendum on the entry into Russia of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. In addition to Pamfilova, the restrictions affected her deputy Nikolai Bulaev, secretary Natalia Budarina and 15 other representatives of the CEC.

In addition, representatives of the presidential administration Oleg Nesterov and Yevgeny Kim, whom the US Treasury Department accuses of creating “filtration points” in Russian-controlled territories of Ukraine, were blacklisted. The department also claims that Nesterov allegedly helped organize a referendum on the accession of the Zaporozhye region to Russia.

The US Treasury in November blacklisted 28 companies and 14 individuals from Russia. The sanctions affected, in particular, the family of businessman Suleiman Kerimov – his wife Firuza Kerimova, as well as children, Gulnara, Amina and Said. In addition, the head of the Russian investment company Bonum Capital Murat Aliyev and the Swiss businessman Alexander Studhalter were blacklisted.

After the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, Western countries have strengthened the previously imposed sanctions against Russia and added new ones to them. In particular, at the end of September, the US Department of Commerce added 57 Russian companies to the sanctions list, including Aviaagregat, the Kurchatov Institute, the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, the Moscow Aviation Institute, the Imperial Tula Arms Plant, and others.
