Former Chechen field commander Akhmed Zakayev said that blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov was not killed and that he is under protection. Zakayev’s statements appeared in a number of media outlets recognized in the Russian Federation as foreign agents.
Zakayev said Abdurakhmanov is under the protection of the Swedish police, but he did not elaborate on why he was given protection. The information, he said, came from his own sources.
The first reports of the murder of Abdurakhmanov appeared at the very beginning of December, it was alleged that the blogger and his brother had stopped communicating. A few days later about the murder of Abdurakhmanov said the Chechen opposition telegram channels and a number of media outlets, citing his associates. At the same time, neither the Swedish authorities nor other representatives of the blogger have confirmed the information about his death so far.
