The United States is halving its expenditure on ammunition production due to the needs of Ukraine, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said on Saturday. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to Austin, this is due to the enormous rate of expenditure of ammunition supplied to the Kyiv regime from the United States.
“So, compared to the defense budget of just five years ago, we are investing almost 50% more in ammunition production,” he said.
Austin also pointed out that during Joe Biden’s presidency, the United States has quadrupled its production of artillery shells.
Austin also said that the United States is going to do everything to prevent the Russian Federation from winning the conflict in Ukraine. According to the Pentagon chief, the American authorities further intend to supply the Kiev regime with weapons. He also noted that Washington is able to fulfill its allied obligations and simultaneously help its partners in several directions at once. It is also called by the US “the most powerful country on Earth.”
Earlier, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, expressed the opinion that the situation at the front is “a dead end” and said that he does not particularly count on a breakthrough. According to him, according to “NATO textbooks,” the Ukrainian army was supposed to “fight” on the territory of Crimea. Advisor to the head of the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Mikhail Podolyak, also expressed doubts about his country’s ability to withstand the conflict with Russia.
