The US Treasury Department added three Iranian media outlets to the sanctions list: the Tasnim, Fars and Press TV channels.
In addition, the US Treasury included the company Yaftar, which, according to the department, is “associated with systematic censorship and blocking of Internet access.”
25 individuals have also been added to the SDN List. Some of them represent Iranian law enforcement agencies and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The head of the White House, Joe Biden, through the press service, said that sanctions were imposed against “the most egregious violators of human rights” on the anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini. The girl died a year ago after being detained for improperly wearing a hijab. Her death sparked mass protests in Iran.
