The United States has not changed its decision not to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter-bombers. This statement was made on Monday, May 15, by the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby.
An American official responded negatively to a question regarding a possible change in Washington’s position after the European tour of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Kirby also said that the US still has no plans to transfer ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to Ukraine, despite the supply of British Storm Shadow.
After London decided to send Storm Shadow cruise missiles with a range of up to 250 km to Kiev, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, called them a key tool that could reduce the combat effectiveness of the Russian army. The official expressed hope that the United States will begin to provide the Ukrainian military with such weapons.
The State Department praised the UK for the decision, but John Kirby said that the position of the United States has not changed against the backdrop of London’s decision. USA is still do not plan to supply such weapons to Kyiv.
