The Central Command of the US Armed Forces announced the elimination of a high-ranking leader of the Islamic State (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation) in Syria. The operation took place on February 10. According to the Pentagon, Ibrahim al-Qahtani was planning attacks on prisons to free the militants of the group. During a search in the terrorist’s house, the security forces seized weapons and IEDs, including a suicide belt. There are no more details about WHO.
During this period, the Syrian Democratic Forces, together with the international coalition, carried out an operation against ISIS in the province of Deir ez-Zor.
The security forces surrounded the house and offered the jihadists to surrender, to which the militants opened fire. Two terrorists were killed by return fire. Whether Al-Qahtani was among the neutralized militants is unknown.
