RBC: US and UK have multiplied the number of visas issued to talented Russians in three years
Edition RBC reports that over the past three years, the US and the UK have increased the number of “talent visas” issued to Russian citizens many times over. In particular, data from the US Department of State show that the agency issued twice as many “talent visas” to Russians last year as a year earlier, and the number of visas issued for talented Russians in the UK, in turn, increased five times.
It is noted that in 2022 the United States issued 445 O-1 visas, known as “talent visas”, to Russian citizens, although in 2020 their number was 135, and in 2021 247 visas were issued. According to the State Department, 72 O-1 visas were granted in the first two months of this year alone.
In the UK, a similar visa is called the Global Talent Visa, and in 2022 they were issued to Russians 397 times, while a year earlier the number of visas issued was 72, and in 2020 they were granted only 34 times.
