The UN is doing its best to remove obstacles to the export of Russian food and fertilizers, but notes difficulties due to sanctions, spokesman for the Secretary General Stephane Dujarric said, commenting on the difficulties that have arisen in world markets.

“Sanctions have not been imposed on Russian food and fertilizers, but the situation is difficult due to the general sanctions regime. This makes it difficult for the private sector to trade. We try to smooth out all the difficulties, eliminate bottlenecks, ”said Dujarric (cit. according to TASS).

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council, said that despite the terms of the “product deal”, according to one of which the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers must be carried out freely, Russia still cannot send its products to countries in need through European ports due to sanctions imposed on Russia.

Earlier, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, admitted the possibility of terminating the “grain deal” due to the fact that the conditions associated with the export of Russian fertilizers are not met. He also recalled that the agreement was concluded before November, and noted that after this period, Russia may refuse further participation in this deal.

On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain from the ports of Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. July 27 in Istanbul, the SKC began work on the export of grain. Within the framework of the agreement on grain, it is also expected to remove restrictions on the export of Russian food and fertilizers.

The fact that the terms of the deal with Russia “are being implemented much worse” than the first part, related to the export of Ukrainian grain from the blocked Black Sea ports, was announced at the end of August by the Russian Foreign Ministry. At that time, Deputy Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Moscow would like the execution of both agreements “synchronously and in parallel”, but the restrictions that prevent Russia from exporting its agricultural products still remain.
