The UN questioned the legality of US sanctions against Iran

According to UN experts, US sanctions against Iran have dubious legality from the point of view of international law.

Thus, the UNHCHR website emphasizes that the legality of the US sanctions imposed unilaterally against Iran is doubtful, the same applies to the legality of their extraterritorial application.

The statement notes that Tehran was even denied access to medicines from the Swiss pharmaceutical group Novartis and the French company Roquette Frères.

The UN pointed out that the humanitarian exceptions for medical supplies in the US sanctions rules are “complicated and unclear.”
