The UN commented on the decision of Germany and France to supply Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles

The goal of the UN is to end the fighting in Ukraine, declared Stefan Dujarric, representative of the Secretary General of the world organization, was asked to comment on the decision of Berlin and Paris to supply their BMPs to Kyiv.

“We are regularly asked about the arrival of weapons in one way or another. Our goal and what we would like to see is an end to this conflict in accordance with the charter and international law,” he said.

Earlier on January 5, the press service of the White House following the talks between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz statedthat Washington intends to supply the Armed Forces with Bradley tracked infantry fighting vehicles and a battery of Patriot air defense systems. Berlin, they noted, will supply Kyiv with its Marder tracked infantry fighting vehicles and an additional Patriot battery. At the Russian Embassy in Germany, this is the decision of the FRG called “another step towards the escalation of the conflict”, expressing the opinion that Berlin decided on it under the influence of Washington.

According to the newspaper Politico, USA intend just deliver 50 Bradley to Kyiv. The publication noted that the allocation of new infantry fighting vehicles by Washington, and by Paris – armored wheeled vehicles AMX-10 RC “may open the way for the supply of Western tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which the American and European allies are reluctant to do so far.” In particular, we can talk about future deliveries of German Leopard tanks and American Abrams.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
