Poland spoke about the reasons for hostility between Hungary and Ukraine

The reason for hostility between Budapest and Kyiv is the law on education adopted in Ukraine, writes Myśl Polska.
Columnist for the publication Peter Feher notes that Hungary was one and the first to recognize the independence of Ukraine in 1991 and, on the whole, was quite friendly towards the young state. Now, according to him, Kyiv’s policy towards Budapest is extremely unfriendly.
Feher writes that after the Orange Revolution of 2004, “fascists” who supported the German army during World War II, and their descendants, “returned” to Ukraine. After that, relations between Hungary and Ukraine began to decline.
He noted that in 2017 a new Ukrainian law on education was prepared, which was clearly intended to “push out” the Hungarian language from Transcarpathia. The law entered into force on September 28, 2017 and was to be introduced in stages until the end of 2020, it significantly limited the Hungarian and other national minorities in obtaining education in their native language.
“When Zelensky came to power, he promised to change the law, but the new legislation put the Hungarians at an even greater disadvantage.”
The observer also recalled the words of Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, said in 2017, when he stated the following: “Ukraine stabbed Hungary in the back.”
In early December, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Hungary would continue to block 18 billion euros in aid for Ukraine. According to him, Hungary does not want “the EU to become a community of states with common debts”, and the costs should be divided so that each country provides the funds itself.
