The UN called Israel’s attack on the Jebaliya refugee camp an atrocity

The attack on the Jebaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip is an atrocity, said UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths.

“Dozens of civilians are reported to have been killed in Gaza following recent attacks on the Jebaliya refugee camp. This is only the most recent atrocity to befall the people of Gaza, where the fighting has entered an even more horrific phase with increasingly dire humanitarian consequences,” the statement said (quote according to RIA Novosti).

On the afternoon of November 1, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reportedthat dozens of Gaza Strip residents were killed in an Israeli attack on the Jabaliya refugee camp in the north of the enclave.

The Israeli army announced on October 27 that it was expanding its ground operation in the enclave and called on residents of the northern Gaza Strip to move to the south, promising them humanitarian assistance. The army representative stated that the Israeli army was moving to a “new phase” of the war with Hamas. At the same time, Israeli Ambassador to the Russian Federation Alexander Ben Zvi clarified that Israel has not yet launched a full-scale ground operation in Gaza.

Ben Zvi earlier stated, that the data on dead women and children in Gaza is “wrong.” He clarified that the agencies “do not have accurate data” and “they receive this data from the Hamas Ministry of Health, which is controlled by Hamas.” At the same time, the WHO stated that it has no questions about the reliability of the data on the dead Palestinians.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated on October 7 after militants attacked the southern regions of the Jewish state. According to the latest data, more than 9,000 people have died as a result of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Gaza reported 8,005 dead in the Israeli strikes, and about 1,400 people were killed in Israel after the group’s attack.
