The UN called for an end to attacks on civilian buildings in Moscow

The UN is in favor of stopping attacks on civilian targets in Moscow, Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the organization’s secretary general, said.

Haq noted that the UN does not have first-hand information, but opposes attacks on civilian objects, regardless of their location.

“If these are civilian buildings in Moscow, then we oppose the attacks and want them to stop,” noted Hack (TASS quote).

Earlier, EU Foreign Service Representative Nabila Massrali at a briefing statedthat Russia should not use Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow to escalate hostilities in Ukraine. According to her, the weapons supplied to Kyiv through the European Peace Fund should be used only to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Over the past few days, there have been two drone attacks on Moscow. Early on the morning of August 1, several drones were shot down by air defense (air defense), but one still flew to the tower in Moscow City. The façade at the level of the 21st floor was damaged. As a result, no one was hurt.

The previous drone attack on the Moscow City towers took place on the night of July 30th. Then the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, reported that as a result, the facades of two office towers of the complex were slightly damaged. There were also no casualties or injuries.

Commenting on today’s drone attack, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledgedthat the threat exists, but the necessary measures are being taken. He also noted that in the current situation, the Kremlin does not see the desire of Kyiv to carry out a terrorist attack by analogy with September 11, 2001.
