The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved withdrawal from the CIS agreement on assistance and benefits to WWII veterans

The Ukrainian government has approved a decision according to which Kyiv is withdrawing from the CIS agreement, which regulates additional benefits for veterans of the Great Patriotic War, as well as material assistance to them, RT reports.

As stated by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnichuk, this decision is in line with Ukraine’s policy of minimizing activities within the CIS. In his opinion, the document has “lost its relevance” for Kyiv.

In addition, Melnychuk said that Ukraine’s obligations under the agreement have either been fully fulfilled or are enshrined in other laws relating to veterans.
