The Ukrainian accused the British who sheltered her of using her as a slave

Ukrainian refugee accused Hannah Debenham, 42, of Uckfield, East Sussex, and her husband in the use of her slave labor. The woman is a National Health Service mental health specialist and was interrogated by police for almost four hours.
A refugee with a daughter, whom the couple sheltered at home, complained to the authorities that she was forced to clean the house for little money or even free of charge, hiding behind a program to resettle Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian family showed up at the Debenham house three weeks ago. The Brits were looking for an au pair to do the eight bedroom housework and a nanny. They came across a profile of a 30-year-old Ukrainian woman who claimed she was also an English teacher and contacted her.
They reached an agreement that would allow the Ukrainian woman and her ten-year-old daughter to stay in the house on the grounds that she would babysit two or three days a week, for which she would be paid £200.
The first days everything was fine, but then the guests stopped not only helping around the house, but even washing the dishes after themselves. Then the refugee slammed the door in the nose of the British woman because she refused to take her somewhere by car because of work.
The situation came to a head when the Ukrainian mother took Ms Debenham’s five-year-old son with her to a nearby school. When the boy asked to use the toilet, she sent him to an open field next to the playground and offered to wipe himself with leaves.
The Briton realized that she could no longer trust her children and refused the house.
A few days later, the police came to Debenham and staged an interrogation. Charges were never filed as evidence of the complaint was not found.
“Now when I see the Ukrainian flag in Britain, I can’t help but feel angry at people who have no gratitude and respect for the naive people who thought they could make the world a better place,” said Hannah Debenham.
