It was also assumed that the Turkish anthem would be played at the stadium, and a banner with Atatürk’s motto “Peace at home – peace around the world” would be hung in the stands. But the organizers of the Turkish side refused these demands, after which the clubs decided not to hold the meeting.
The match was scheduled to take place at Al Awwal Stadium at 20:45 Moscow time. Spectators in the stands were told about its cancellation 10 minutes before the start of the meeting, after which they began to disperse.
