– The capsule can go deep into the fat layer or wander in the muscles of the animal, but the chip will still be read. Beluga whales have even more fat, but the chip is still read. Rarely, but still there are cases when this is not possible. Therefore, it was decided to conduct an autopsy of a dead dolphin found on the beach. The chip was not found, so it was finally concluded that this was not our bottlenose dolphin from the dolphinarium.

What did he die of?

— Most likely, the dolphin died, hitting the fishing nets. There were characteristic marks on his body. This is a common cause of death of dolphins in the Black Sea.

– Recently, a dolphin swam up to the fishermen, who begged for fish, took a vertical stance.

– We checked. It was a common dolphin, not a bottlenose dolphin.

– Since Maya, Zoya, Styopa and Tosha were released, have they been seen somewhere?

– They were seen several times in the area of ​​\u200b\u200bSolnechny beach, on the wild beach of Victory Park. There have been no messages in the last few days. They could go to the area of ​​Kacha, Lyubimovka (settlements in the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol). And further along the coastline – the Black Sea is large.

Do you think they will stick together?

— I think they split into pairs. Stepa and Maya must stick together. They are a fighting team, they worked together all the time. Styopa protected and protected Maya in every possible way. Tosha and Zoya started working together six months ago. But let’s hope they’re together now too. Zoya is a fighting girl, very active, cheerful and smart.

We all hope that dolphins will adapt, learn to fish. If they cannot get food on their own, they will seek people for help. People fed them for many years. They have a clear relationship: man-fish.

Dolphins will go to the open sea or will they stay close to the shore?

“They are more comfortable in the coastal zone now. Near the coastline, the water warms up better. There are more fish here now, it is much more convenient for them to drive a school of fish to the shore.

– Can a flock of wild dolphins accept them?

– Let’s just say that females would be more quickly accepted into the pack than males. Let’s hope they all have interactions with wild dolphins and adapt to the natural environment.

— Is the temperature of the water in the dolphinarium pool and in the Black Sea different?

— These animals are used to living in the dolphinarium in Koktebel, they were here on a long-term lease. And only in February they returned to Sevastopol. In Koktebel there is an open-type swimming pool, the water there is the same as in the sea. We never heated the pool, they didn’t have greenhouse conditions. In this regard, they should be fine in the Black Sea.

– Someone communicates with the director of the Flipper Dolphinarium Vladimir Kalnibolotsky, does he not regret what he did?

No, he doesn’t regret it at all. Moreover, as they say in his environment, he wants to continue to engage in entrepreneurial activities related to the commercial use of animals. He wants to rent animals, arrange performances in the dolphinarium. We will do our best to prevent this from happening. The veterinary trainer says that Maya, Zoya, Styopa and Tosha will continue to be searched for.

“We continue to monitor, we are helped by volunteers, fishermen, caring citizens who report where dolphins were seen. We immediately react, drive up to the place and see if the animal needs help and if it is our pet dolphin.

– The Institute of Biology of the South Seas reported that they would search for tame dolphins using a hydrophone.

— An employee of the Karadag scientific station Alexander Agafonov was preparing a scientific work on the sounds of dolphins. He worked in the Koktebel Dolphinarium. He has the sounds of Zoe and Maya in his base. With the help of a hydrophone, the voices of mammals can be identified.

The device is sensitive, with it you can record sounds at a distance of 3 kilometers. This way you can hear our animals. Each of the dolphins makes its own individual sound. Such works along the coastline have already been carried out. Our employee walked along the bays, lowered the hydrophone into the water, but so far Maya, Zoya, Styopa and Tosha have not been heard.

If we do not find dolphins near the coastline, then they have adapted, survived. They are fine. Otherwise, they will go out to people.
