The story of the tragic death of the cat Twix, whom the conductor kicked out of the train car in 25-degree frost, took an unexpected turn. The animal, as it turned out, will still “get” to St. Petersburg. People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Nikas Safronov told MK correspondents about this and decided to immortalize the cat on canvas.
“I’m currently working on a portrait of Twix the cat,” says Nikas. – It will be created from lifetime photographs of the deceased animal. And then this portrait will be placed in the form of graffiti at the St. Petersburg train station. Therefore, the cat will still “get to” St. Petersburg, but in a different form, and go down in the history of the great city.
Moreover, the artist hopes that Twix will help save his fellow creatures. Safronov intends to put the cat’s portrait up for auction.
“I will donate all the money earned from the sale to one of the charitable foundations that helps homeless animals,” explains the painter.
Nikas is aware of the public outcry that arose after the tragic death of the animal. But he himself is not ready to participate in the persecution of the conductor. Safronov believes that she needs to be supported.
“All calls to punish and prosecute the conductor, in my opinion, are unnecessary,” the artist believes. “She followed the rules established by the railway. The conductor put the cat out, deciding that he had wandered into the carriage by accident – according to the regulations, he simply had to do this. Otherwise, if one of the passengers complained that there was a stray animal on the train, she would be held accountable to the railway management, including a fine and even dismissal. She didn’t know that its owner was sleeping somewhere in the compartment. So whoever didn’t keep track of Twix is also to blame. Of course, everything that happened was a tragic accident. And I don’t understand people who call for almost quartering the conductor, shooting her, and imprisoning her for life. People, where do you get such bloodthirstiness from?
Let us remind you that a big story happened on the Ekaterinburg – St. Petersburg train. During a stop in Kirov, passengers found a walking cat in one of the carriages. The guide tried to find the animal’s owners, after which she threw the cat outside, deciding that it was a stray. After some time, volunteers found Twix’s lifeless body.
