The traditional tournament “White Sea Hopes” started in the capital of Pomorye

The traditional tournament “White Sea Hopes” and the qualifying round of the All-Russian Festival “League of Gymnastics” started in the capital of Pomorye.

The tournament “White Sea Hopes” is traditionally dedicated to the memory of two famous coaches: the founder of the gymnastic school in Arkhangelsk, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Viktor Petrov, and the first master of sports of the USSR in the Arkhangelsk region in artistic gymnastics Vladimir Domanov. The memory of the coaches was honored by laying flowers to the portraits of the coaches and a moment of silence.

About 200 athletes aged from six to eighteen take part in the competition. Teams from Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Novodvinsk, Murmansk, Cherepovets, Vologda, Petrozavodsk, Bryansk and Kaliningrad lined up at the opening parade.

– Our modern complex, which has become a center for the development of artistic gymnastics in Pomorie, was built thanks to the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”. I am glad that the center once again hosts high-profile tournaments, and their participants note the high level of organization of competitions, – emphasized Sergey Pivkov, Deputy Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region.

According to the vice-governor, for the first time in the region, the qualifying stage of the All-Russian Festival “League of Gymnastics” is being held. It involves athletes from six to nine years old. These are very young gymnasts, but already now they are great hopes in such a beautiful sport as artistic gymnastics.

Semyon Chukhin came to Arkhangelsk to feel the competitive spirit and show his skills at the qualifying stage of the All-Russian Festival “League of Gymnastics” as part of the national team of Severodvinsk.

– I have been doing gymnastics for more than three years. I enjoyed playing in this hall. I am very pleased that our team won, although we had strong opponents, – said the young gymnast.

According to the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region, the winning teams will represent the North-West of Russia in the finals of the All-Russian Festival “League of Gymnastics”, which will be held in Sochi at the end of May.
