The traditional Pomeranian ski marathon took place in Malye Karely

At the ski stadium named after V.S. Kuzina, the 13th Pomeranian ski marathon took place, which traditionally ends the winter season in the regional center.

“Every year the Pomor Marathon is becoming more and more popular among athletes in our country,” noted Deputy Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Sergei Pivkov. – If 72 athletes took part in the first races in 2010, this year more than three hundred skiers came to us from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Bryansk, Istra, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Kolomna, Kazan, Murmansk and other cities. And the organizers did everything possible to hold our northern marathon at the highest level.

There are several distances for athletes to choose from: 2, 3 and 5 km, as well as a half marathon and a marathon.

– Thanks to the organizers. I really enjoyed both long distance races. The route is very well prepared,” Anastasia Ryzhova, a participant in the Pomeranian Marathon from Moscow, shared her impressions.

At a distance of 2 km, the winner was Matvey Kuritsyn from Vologda. Timofey Parasochka from Severodvinsk took the lead in the 3 km race. Pavel Rezvy from Yemetsk was the fastest in the 5 km race.

The most popular races were 25 and 50 km. In the freestyle half marathon, Arkhangelsk resident Ilya Kuznetsov became the champion. At a similar distance, Artyom Gryazev from Murmansk turned out to be the “classic” without competition. Well, in the most prestigious category – the marathon – our famous skier, Russian champion in the 70 km race, Severodvinsk resident Alexey Shemyakin showed himself brilliantly.

– It’s nice to win at our “home track.” This race was a good preparation for the main event – ​​the 70 km marathon at the Russian Championship in Monchegorsk, which will take place on April 14. I will try to win there too,” said Alexey Shemyakin.
