The President of the St. Petersburg Judo Federation, Mikhail Rakhlin, said that the competition for the City Governor’s Cup will still take place on March 23 and 24. The competition began with a minute of silence dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack in the Crocus near Moscow, the St. Petersburg Diary reported.

Rakhlin noted that a sports competition is not an entertainment and entertainment event. According to him, the judo tournament is of a patriotic nature, since future defenders of the Motherland perform at it.

In connection with the tragedy in the Moscow region, which occurred the day before and claimed the lives of dozens of people, the competition began with a minute of silence. This time there was no ceremonial speech before the start of the tournament, and the award ceremony will take place without music.

Previously, the Zenit press service reported, that the match with Red Star in Belgrade will begin with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the terrorist attack the day before. The players will take to the field wearing mourning armbands.
