Governor of the Magadan Region Sergei Nosov signed decree, which from 2024 introduces a ban on the work of foreigners in transport in the region. Previously, restrictions were introduced in the Chelyabinsk and Kaluga regions.
The annex to the decree states that the ban applies to regular transportation of passengers by city, suburban and intercity buses, as well as passenger taxis. According to the study “RIA News”in the Magadan region, 47.6% of workers earn more than 100 thousand rubles.
In November, the authorities of the Chelyabinsk region signed a similar decree: there, from January 1, 2024, migrants were prohibited from driving taxis, minibuses and buses. In February 2022, the governor of the Kaluga region signed the same decree. Introduction of a ban on migrants working in taxis and cafes are discussing authorities of the Tula region.
Head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina spoke this month that there are almost no workers left in the Russian economy. Head of the Ministry of Economy Maxim Reshetnikov offered more actively attract migrants into the economy. According to him, Russia is already competing for labor from Central Asia with China and Southeast Asia.
